HR Generalist - Jamaica (no relocation)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced HR Generalist to support our Jamaica-based team. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about employee experience, and can confidently lead employee relations, benefits administration, and coordinate payroll processing. You’ll act as the go-to HR resource for employees, partnering with leadership and our global HR team to ensure compliance, engagement, and a strong, people-centered culture.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance
Serve as the primary liaison between employees and management, fostering trust and resolving workplace concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Lead investigations related to employee concerns, misconduct, and policy violations; draft reports and recommend actions in accordance with company policy and Jamaican labour law.
Advise managers on performance, conduct, and disciplinary issues; guide them in applying policies consistently.
Analyze and update HR policies to ensure legal compliance and alignment with business needs.
Coordinate grievance procedures and conduct exit interviews.
HR Operations & Administration
Maintain accurate HR records, personnel files, and organizational charts.
Prepare job letters, employment confirmations, and other employee correspondence.
Process extended leave requests and manage leave tracking, ensuring compliance with policies and Jamaican labour laws.
Support HR reporting and data analysis (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, engagement metrics).
Benefits Administration
Administer and coordinate all employee benefit programs, including health, life, personal accident, and pension plans.
Lead the annual health insurance renewal process: manage vendor engagement, employee education, and plan implementation.
Ensure accurate and timely enrollment, changes, and termination of benefit coverage; maintain up-to-date employee and dependent data.
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and claims resolution.
Recruiting & Onboarding
Manage end-to-end recruitment for local roles: draft job descriptions, post openings, screen candidates, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
Liaise with external recruiters or job boards as needed to attract top talent.
Ensure a seamless onboarding experience: schedule orientation sessions and guide new hires through benefits enrollment and company policies.
Partner with managers to create onboarding plans that accelerate productivity and cultural integration.
Maintain talent pipelines for future hiring needs and provide insight into local talent market trends.
Employee Engagement & Internal Programs
Plan and execute engagement programs and wellness initiatives, such as health fairs, financial education sessions, and internal campaigns.
Manage vendor relationships for in-house medical services, gym memberships, uniform programs, and employee transportation.
Coordinate employee onboarding and deliver benefit orientation for new hires.
Support company-wide recognition programs, blood drives, tuition assistance, and other internal initiatives.
Payroll Coordination
Liaise with payroll vendor and Finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Review time and attendance reports via Rippling; flag discrepancies and ensure all changes are captured for each payroll cycle.
Ensure compliance with local payroll regulations, statutory deductions, and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
3–5 years of HR experience with demonstrated expertise in employee relations, benefits administration, and payroll coordination.
Strong working knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and HR compliance practices.
Hands-on experience with HRIS and time-tracking systems (Rippling preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently with high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact effectively at all levels.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and resolve conflict.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute employee programs and events.
